Indigo airlines is a low cost air carrier that is based in Gurgaon, in northern India. It is mainly centered on the IGI airport in New Delhi. It first started its services in august 2006 with flights flying from Delhi to Guwahati in the north east of India. The group is owned and promotes by the Inter Globe enterprises. With Delhi and Mumbai airports as hubs, it has daily flights to Mumbai, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Patna, Ahemdabad, Kochi, Nagpur and other domestic destinations.
With an average fleet life of 1 year, it has 22 aircrafts imparting services. A low cost carrier, it provides state of the art facilities to its fliers. Its flights operate on Airbus A320. Indigo airlines has placed orders for more than 100 carriers worth $6billion in 2oo5. From time to time Indigo flight provides very cheap ticket prices to attract passengers. Being a no frills carrier, there are no meals on board and a maximum baggage limit of 20kg. Its carriers are colored in their signature deep indigo color. It has a market share of about 11%.
